September 1
Celtic Tree Month of Colle: Celtic Tree month of Colle ends today.
September 2
Discovery of The Runes (Festival of the Mind)
This celebrates scholarship, learning in all fields and inspiration. The
power of the mind is both mystical and awesome. It reminds us of Odin's
sacrifice to gain wisdom, new insight. We strive for parallel spiritual
and intellectual development. The runes and the truths they present can
be used for personal transformation, psychic development, healing and
the building of the environment according to the inner will. This festival
also remind us of an essential truth, the fallacy that because mankind
is created from the same stuff that all are of the same value and should
be valued equally. Ancient writing (including the Edda, and some modern)
show that the differences in human qualities and capabilities have always
been realized.
Today this eternal truth is not popular and has led to a desire to drag
all down to the lowest common denominator which ultimately benefits no-one.
Let us remember until we respect ourselves, our folk, our folk's achievements,
uniqueness and gifts, we can not truly respect another
Celtic Tree month of Muin: Celtic tree month of Muin begins, running from
September 2 to September 29 and honoring Vines. Muin focuses on both Harvest
time, as well as healing and magical powers. Muin is sacred to the Celtic
God of Light, Lugh.. who reverse intellect and spiritual illumination
as some of the most important traits for a Folk. Plant a late autumn vine,
or hibiscus,, and take the time to think on your Folk while digging in
the dirt. Vines have amazing strength and tenacity, traits we should exhibit
as well.
September 7
Horned Dance at Abbotts Bromely: Today marks the day of the Horned dance
at Abbots Bromely, which exemplifies and honors the Horned God in the
Celtic pantheon, Cernunnos. "The Horned One" is a Celtic god
of fertility, life, animals, wealth, and the underworld. He was worshiped
all over Gaul, and his cult spread into Britain as well. Cernunnos is
depicted with the antlers of a stag, sometimes carries a purse filled
with coin. The Horned God is born at the winter solstice, marries the
Goddess at Beltane, and dies at the summer solstice. He alternates with
the Goddess of the Moon in ruling over life and death, continuing the
cycle of death, rebirth and reincarnation.
September 9
Day of Remembrance for Herman of the Cherusci: Herman learned the art
of war under the Romans, then denounced his servitude to the Imperial
eagles to lead his tribe in revolt against the Mediterranean intruders.
In the fall of the year 9 CE, he annihilated three legions in the Teutobergerwald
, a victory which saved Germania from Roman occupation. Plant an oak tree,
eat in a German restaurant, and remember Herman with a glass of fine beer
from the ancient Teutonic lands. Bravery and valour
are a quality so sadly missed so rarely shown, drink in the memory of
this fearsome warrior and reawake the fire inside your own heart. Never
bow your head before NO one, these values are to known in each day of
your life and not remembered just on one day in a year. But in these times
now we need icons and we need true live heroes. We turn to look but we
find NONE, so we grasp for the dead heroes and memories of them. Do not
wait for examples,, be that live image the world awaits for.
September 10
Discovery of Vinland: This date marks the discovery of Vinland- or the
coast of Canada in the 11th Century by the exploring race of Vikings as

farming and expansion.

Runic Half month of Raidho: Ending of Runic Half month of Raidho.
September 13
Runic Half month of Kenaz: Runic half month of Kenaz begins today, which
honors the concept of illumination. Kenaz runs from 13th to the 27th of
September (Shedding). As the days get darker for our people, in both reality
and concept, take the time to think about ways to light up your family
and your Folk. Light a candle every night for this Runic Half month and
take or make and oath on your family's behalf to improve something.
September 14
Full moon: Full moon shines bright tonight,, take some time to sit outside
and enjoy the light, and maybe set out a silver jug to moon some water,
using the moons light add the strength to the water itself.
September 15
Harvest Moon observance: The observance of the harvest moon traditionally
begins with a full moon after this date. This is considered to be a powerful
time for those involved in magic, fertility rites or divination.
September18
Scouring of the White Horse: The Scouring of the White Horse begins today
in the hillsides of Berkshire, England. The "White Horse" is
an amazing carving in the hills of this township,, depicting a white horse
and very clearly visible from the air. Our forebears showed amazing ability
to plan out this 'monument' of sort in such magnitude.
September23
Autumn Equinox (Mabon, Harvest End),
Mabon is the Autumn Equinox. The Autumn Equinox divides the day and night
equally, and we all take a moment to pay our respects to the impending
dark. We also give thanks to the waning sunlight, as we store our harvest
of this year's crops.
The Druids call this celebration, Mea'n Fo'mhair, and honor the Green
Man, the God of the Forrest, by offering libations to trees. Offerings
of ciders, wines, herbs and fertilizer are appropriate at this time. Mabon
is a minor blot acknowledging the end of the Harvest Season, also associate
with vintage and mead-making. Most people held off the full celebration
of this holiday, though, until the main festival of Winternights.
At this festival it is appropriate to wear all of your finery and dine
and celebrate in a lavish setting. It is the drawing to and of family
as we prepare for the winding down of the year at Samhain. Its is a time
to finish old business as we ready for a period of rest, relaxation, and
reflection.
Mabon is considered a time of Mystery. It is a time to honor Aging Deities
and the Spirit World. Considered a time of balance, it is when we stop
and relax and enjoy the fruits of our personal harvest, whether they be
from toiling in our garden, working at our jobs, raising our families,
or just coping with the hassle of everyday life.
Either full moon after Autumn Equinox or October 31
Alban Elued: Alban Elued is a Druidic festival which celebrates the light
of the water, a time when the sun begins to descend into the ocean of
winter.
September 26
Mid Autumn day is a Scottish holiday, which traditionally toasted the
start of the mating season for deer, yet again, paying homage to the upcoming
hunting season and the Folk fulfilling their needs for the upcoming winter,
such as through hunt and harvest.
September 27
Runic half month of Kenaz: Runic half month of Kenaz ends today
September 28
Runic Half month of Gebo: Runic half month of Gebo begins today, and runs
from 28 September (Shedding) to 12 October (Hunting). gebo is the rune
which stands for Gift. Over the next two weeks, spend some time thinking
about the gift your forebears have given you, from Odin's Ordeal to the
eddas passed down to us. Also ruminate on what you can do to continue
that GIFT PASSING.
September 29
Pagan basis for Michaelmas: The Christian festival of Michaelmas was plagiarized,
as are all major Christian fetes. This holiday was originally observed
in December, but when Christmas was placed on the twenty-fifth of the
month, Michaelmas was moved to coincide closely with the Pagan Fall Equinox
celebration- or to replace it as time would have it
